American Naijarian,
Alhaji Umaru Yar'Adua is the first Nigerian graduate to become President of Nigeria.
The American trained Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe was the first President of Nigeria, regardless of what people or historians say.
Lest your forget, Nigeria was not so downgraded until IBB came and destroyed the ethics of governance in Nigeria.
As the Holy Bible said:
"If the foundation is destroyed, what can the righteous do?"
Here the link to a serious discussion which only few Nigerians are even contributing to and it the buzz of the IT world since last Wednesday.

i am with omodudu...don't give up!!!...remember, the continent has gone through things no other continent has experienced...colonization and trans-atlantic slave trade...the europeans and americans still have their hands meddling in our stewpots...the chinese have recently added their own hands....are our leaders to blame?...of course...but remember, many of the leaders who were educated and tried to run nigeria were sacked with coups...check your history, the real history...remember what happened to kwame nkrumah?...i don't believe that those coups and disruptions were accidental/coincidental/uninfluenced/supported by outside powers who would rather see things a certain way...we are intelligent people...don't allow the media to allow you to think otherwise...no one country is practicing democracy, not even this so-called us of america...ask the greeks and romans where they got most of what the world claims they gave us....even the romans and greeks admit in their writings that the egyptians gave them a lot and i don't mean the white skinned ones either...when they discussed why nigeria still has not eradicated polio, did they tell you why and all the problems there have been?...i'm not shedding crocodile tears...i'm preparing for battle, as should you because that is what it will take to free us from the grips of the money-hungry, greedy, racist bastards who seek to keep nigeria as is...africa will be free, africa will be nice...sending you hope...

I understand your frustration. It is justified. I think that as a people, we have given others room to insult and degrade us. However, Nigeria remains the land love and thus I must find my own little way to improve it and change the minds of those who choose to not know my people.
I wish you luck on your journey and encourage you to have hope.
Please do not give up yet..please..
